What exactly led you to assume that Broner fans are BET fans or vice-versa?

Anyway, showcasing Ward's fight on ANY network for that matter is a good sign. With Floyd ready to retire after September of this year, it's time for Ward to take over the throne. Funny thing is, he'll be just as hated as Floyd is all while being the humble well spoken man that he is. Something that fans use to claim their hate for Floyd.

The fight is on BET because there was no other network to show it on. That's it, that's all. When you are dying of hunger and have not eaten for days, you will eat dog food if you have to. It was either put the fight on BET or don't broadcast it at all. And to be honest, unless it sets ratings records for that network, it might have been better just to have him fight off the air. Because if he pulls in 250K viewers it will not be that great for future negotiations down the line. He can kiss his 'A side' status good bye.

Heard they cancelled a media luncheon because not enough media wanted to go to it.

Sorry, but you're wrong on so many levels. Firstly, Roc Nation purposely proposed this fight to air on BET. And BET was more than obliged. Even though BET is not necessarily a race-based network, Ward could use the support of the Black American boxing fans. It seems that these are the only guys he gets support from anyway at this current time.

HBO and Showtime turned them down months ago when first approached by Roc Nation. They stated that Ward wanted way too much money for his tune up fights. Without those networks, RN had to go looking elsewhere. All the Haymon connected networks were obviously out of the picture. So tell me what networks that left to place the fight on?

            Not too many.

There is always the Weather Channel.

He is asking way too much money for his tune up fights and the opponents he suggested were simply not worth it. Neither is Ward at this point of his career for that matter, having been mainly inactive for the past 4 years. Ward will have to fight his next few fights on BET or another similar outlet before he finds an opponent that HBO finds acceptable.

As far as BET is concerned, it is not a 'free' cable channel and has to be selected as part of an extra package. While not a premium station like HBO or Showtime, it is not a free station such as ABC, CBS or NBC.
Jay Z has everything to do it. His job is to bring fans to Andre Ward. You guys aren't his fans so he's looking elsewhere
