Fans always have to get involved in money discussions when one fighter is a coward. They didn't have to do that in the Bhop vs Kovalev. Fight just happened without any fuzz.

If Kovalev gets $1m for the Mohammedi fight, I'll be shocked. After that, he'd basically be out of decent fights.

Another case of "No, we're the A-Side"
Kovalev has a contract with HBO though, don't think Stevenson has one with Showtime.
I don't see it as unreasonable for a 50/50 split. Kovalev has three ****ing titles.

Still confused about why they would go for purse bids in the first though

Kovalev's options are definitely limited.
And, if the money's right, I see Jurgen Brahmer (wba Champion) being willing to possibly travel for one of those CBS/NBC/ABC afternoon shows [Sauerland accepts the full German TV rights, and a significant chunk of the European broadcast rights, as the price to have Brahmer travel to Montreal; 1pm stateside start time still puts the fight as a primetime broadcast in Germany].
By the time that Stevenson runs through a decent number of those fights (with utter soft touches, like the Craig Baker Haiti fight thrown in), a lot of the young prospects would be ready to step up and fight:
Beterbiev, Alvarez, Thomas Williams Jr, Marcus Browne, etc.Last edited by Scipio2009; 04-23-2015, 10:54 PM.

It is a shame that the sport is so badly organized that these tv interests can prevent the best fights.
