No, you compare what he'd make against Kovalev on HBO with what he's going to make against the next hobo he would face on PBC/Sho.

He's likely going to make more money on HBO with the bonus of 3 more belts on the line and undisputed status than fighting Bika II or Fonfara II on Sho.
Stevenson likely cleared more money on the Bika fight than what Kovalev cleared on the Hopkins fight, by far. Beyond that, Stevenson always has that caveat of Canadian PPV money, which HBO has nothing to do with.

That's always the case, except both the Canada ppv and gate money would be way better for Kovalev than the likes of Bika, Sukhotsky or even Fonfara 2

As for Kovalev, it is true he can make more money from this particular fight by allowing a purse bid to go through but he signed with HBO for more than one fight, which will earn him good money. The only alternative would be signing with Haymon, which would mean having to kick out Main Events, the only company to place their faith in him. I'm guessing that such is the level of low-life on this forum that the very concept of loyalty is pretty alien.
Kovalev has signed for 3 fights for HBO, without any real fights to look forward to. Cong****, I guess.

If the decision was made to move on from the Stevenson fight, he should've pushed his team to quit yapping, making him look like a schmuck.

Was he supposed to ditch Main Events and sign with Haymon?

You haven't answered what the 4 meaningful fights outside Beterbiev and Alavarez are, Fonfara II, ???, ???, ???,

Stevenson made more than $2.5m for the Bika fight, so what are you talking about? Beyond that, why would the WBC force Chilemba(Main Events) into being mandatory challenger when his promoter already embarrassed the governing body, by pushing for an unprecedented organizational move, only yo back out on the fight twice.

If Kovalev gets $1m for the Mohammedi fight, I'll be shocked. After that, he'd basically be out of decent fights.

                • Duva called for, and got granted, the purse bid knowing she had Kovalev trapped in an exclusive HBO contract. She can no longer convince the public its Stevenson's or his team's fault if the fight doesn't get made. Duva covered her financial ass but not Kovalev's. Stevenson is a free agent to networks for the purpose of being open to making the most money. She is calling it negotiations when all the competition(the money competing for the fight) is down to HBO. Her plan to make Stevenson look bad for fighting a purse bid backfired when Stevenson answered the call. A big draw fight has to abide by their exclusive contract. Kovalev, maybe the most fearsome guy in boxing, has been making peanuts and may never make more than almonds due to this contract she got him stuck in.

Kovalev's purse against Pascal was hardly peanuts, and I doubt the HBO deal is bad either.

                      Boom. :ANYWORD:
difference is that Frampton-Quigg brings a bigger gate in Ireland that it could bring in even London; kinda why Matchroom was ready to stage the fight in Ireland.

the actual hang-up for that fight is the TV; Matchroom wants the fight on PPV, to maximize the money, while Frampton's promoter wants the fight on ITV(think NBC in the US), to build that relationship.
