LMAO this means nothing, in the age of 1000 different champion belts, it doesn mean much to beat them. Also beating fighters past prime doesnt count either lol
Well there's a WHOLE bunch of fights that don't count for a WHOLE bunch of boxing legends.
Floyd is wrong, Ali did state that he was the greatest. But he never said he was better than sugar ray robinson. He actually said robinson was better than him, but that he was the greatest heavyweight of all time.
this
Ali wasn't shy for his admiration towards SRR. Floyd on the other hand has no humility what so ever. Same goes for SRR's admiration towards Joe Luis, SRL admiration towards Ali, ect..
FMJ is not very humble because deep down he knows he is not 'TBE', he is not 'The Peoples Champion', he knows his mere 47-0 has been dwarfed and shadowed by others like JCC 90-0, SRR 100+-0, so he desperately feels the need to verbally boost his worth and wealth. He only mentions past greats when trying to excuse his flawed behavior, smh...
FMJ is not bad by any stretch obviously, but he wants where he falls short. He uses his zero to paint a distorted portrait where he is a huge, brave, rugged, unstoppable hero who fights for the weak....
When in reality he is not the biggest guy by any means at all, he takes very little risks, is more twinkle toes than knock'em sock'em, and he only cares about himself.
btw, I am not a FMJ hater; I appreciate his skills but am not blind to his flaws
Ali said he was the greatest at a young age and at the beginning of his career. Afterwards, he went and cleaned out the entire heavyweight division by fighting every single fighter who was relevant of that era. I give floyd his props for beating Corrales, who had a mediocre career, and Mosley, who had just came off an impressive win against Margarito. But when Margarito, Cotto, Mosley, and Williams were the top guys, Floyd retired! Khan beat Maidana and Alexander beat Maidana, so who does Floyd fight??? Maidana! Yet he compares himself to one of the greatest ever?????????? It doesn't even make sense. Anyone ever hear of Kosta Tyzu, who was knocking everyone out at 140??? And now, he's fighting Pacquiao 5 years too late, when it would have been Manny at his very best, he wouldn't fight him. That doesn't sound like TBE to me. That sounds like an excellent business man with an excellent marketing plan, and an even better matchmaker!!!
He makes the right points. Ali said the same things about himself.
I respect that. But I don't consider Floyd the best ever in any weight class. He's the best today, and I'm a fan. But at 140 and 147 there were fighters at least as good.
I do think Ali was the best HW. Nobody can beat everyone historically, but Ali would've had the best percentage.
Has he ever conclusively been the best in his own weight class today never mind ever?
He never beat Lara at 154, didn't clear out that division and he hasn't beaten Pacquiao or cleared out the 147 division.
So much of Floyd's perceived dominance is pure marketing. At least with Andre Ward, we know he's the best in his own division.

Floyd Feels he is the BEST ever. Best at what he does inside the ring. He never said he feels he is the Greatest.
He can Feel what he wants to feel and trully believe it too. So does Charlie Zenelof dont mean that he is. No need to get outrage all this outrage makes me believe there is part of you that hates it because you may believe it too.
floyd is 24-0 in championship fights has defeated 11 HOfers while they were champions:
1. genaro hernandez WBC 130
2. Diego Corrales IBF 130
3. Jose Luis Castillo WBC 135
4. Arturo Gatti WBC 140
5. Zab Judah IBF 147
6. Oscar De la Hoya WBC 154
7. Ricky Hatton IBF 140
8. Juan manuel marquez WBA/WBO 135
9. Shane Mosley WBA 147
10. Miguel Cotto WBA 154
11. Canelo Alvarez WBA/WBC 154
unified two weight divisons at the age of 38, defened his titles 15 times, and you say this is not greatness. only a racist POS would make a statement like you did.
30 years from now nobody would be talking about NONE of those fights.. Well maybe the Castillo fight because he really lost. .. Ali is IMMORTAL, to hell with the fact hes a better human being, just sticking to boxing, Floyds resume is toilet paper compared to the killers Ali chopped down.
Oh yeah Ricky Hatton is not no damn HOF, so why is he on that list. Neither is Zab Judah .. And he cheated Marquez on the scales you can take him off that list too.. And Canelo was drained.
No matter how you slice it, Floyd is not on Alis level, just stop it.
Floyds claim to being better than Ali is being undefeated.. So Joe Calzaghe is also better than Ali with that logic.
Mayweather is a gutless, cherry-picker. Ali fought the best, and sometimes several times over like Frazier. Nothing like that in Mayweather's resume unless you talk about his ridiculous fights with Maidana, who we should remember was manhandled by Alexander, a so-so welterweight.
Of great fighters, he fought Oscar when that guy was way past his prime.
That's it. He even ducked Margarito.
