Beating Foreman is one of the reasons.

Thinking that Ali is a revered ATG because he took those shots is flawed thinking.....

Ali is great because he overcame MANY overwhelming hurdles.

Plenty of bums had a great chin, and not enough skill to avoid taking punches..... you need to look at the big picture.

He did say he was better than Joe Louis and Rocky Marciano, which brought a little criticism at the time.
Ali called himself The Greatest !

      Not, Nearly The Greatest !

Or, The Greatest except for Robinson.

How the hell is the nation of islam "racist".. racism is not name calling, racism is oppression of a group economically, educationally and physically. The NOI never oppressed any white person, never lynched anybody. .and integration was a horrible idea, so i guess they were right.. to be a racist you must belong to the group with power and privilege. Ali was no racist.

Floyd is a tap dancing coon out the ring and in the ring his biggest win to date is corrales..his whole resume is toilet paper compared to Ali.

The context is the Floyd/Ali comparison.

My view is that true greatness (like Muhammad Ali's) transcends his sporting achievements. Ali is more than just a sporting legend or a boxing great. He's an icon. That is true greatness.

If its purely about stats then that ignores many other significant factors, like, the era in which you fought, the level of competition, the style of your victory, the magnitude of the event, the legacy you have left, etc etc.

Floyd is an exceptional boxer. I'm a fan. He's just not in a position to claim being the best ever. History will decide where he fits.

floyd is 24-0 in championship fights has defeated 11 HOfers while they were champions:

              1. genaro hernandez WBC 130
              2. Diego Corrales IBF 130
              3. Jose Luis Castillo WBC 135
              4. Arturo Gatti WBC 140
              5. Zab Judah IBF 147
              6. Oscar De la Hoya WBC 154

              10. Miguel Cotto WBA 154
              11. Canelo Alvarez WBA/WBC 154

unified two weight divisons at the age of 38, defened his titles 15 times, and you say this is not greatness. only a racist POS would make a statement like you did.

So by defending Ali, I'm a racist POS? Huh? Huh?

Besides. Name calling is for kids.

If you have a well reasoned argument then I'll listen to it.

Anyone can pull stats of boxrec.

Floyd is wrong, Ali did state that he was the greatest. But he never said he was better than sugar ray robinson. He actually said robinson was better than him, but that he was the greatest heavyweight of all time.

LMAO this means nothing, in the age of 1000 different champion belts, it doesn mean much to beat them. Also beating fighters past prime doesnt count either lol
