Oh. Maybe I was thinking of the rating "grade" and not the actual amount of viewers.

But his point stands. You can't compare viewership numbers for soccer on network television and another sporting event on premium cable. As pointed out earlier, The PBC numbers are three times as high as the ones on HBO.

Irrelevant. That was not on a premium channel.

Also irrelevant. Soccer is the most popular sport in the world and dwarfs boxing by an order of magnitude. It is normal that it pulls in great ratings in Europe no matter whether it is on a premium or free over the air channel. Television in Europe also cannot be compared to North American television in any way, shape or form. It is run completely different over there with much more government involvement in the channels and content available.

Then how did they get 26 million people to watch Germany-Argentina?

            is nbc free in usa?
and as i said before around europe u have to subscribe to sky sports or bt sports to watch soccer

last weekend there was a double header, 2 games on at the same time. 1 on free channel and the other on premium and in uk alone the free channel peaked at 6.9m and premium channel at 2m. and this is just the tiny country of uk, i am not even counting total viewership accross the globe because it would be a massacre

soccer is on a whole different level to boxing

It not even close, Boxing is nothing compared to the fame and popularity of the sport of football(soccer) and its players.

but u said earlier if football was on premium channel it wouldnt get 10% of this number when in fact around europe it is on premium channel and it isnt cheap either. it costs twice as much to watch soccer than it does boxing in uk

26m in a country with over 300m people is nothing. and over 1 billion people watched that game so 26m really isnt a large number at all

26 million is a lot for any television program in the US other than the super bowl.
