I peeped that long ago, that the "Money" persona is not an act. Its clearly a part of who he is and has become. He's had people that were in his personal life come out and say he was out of control when it comes to money and what he does with it. I will say it seems it has got somewhat better in the past 1-2 years in terms of making sure he has for the long road, not in terms of flaunting it though. He completely lights up when people acknowledge his money, or home, or cars. He gets giddy.
Hopkins touched on this once, how they ran into each other once and the first thing Floyd has to say is something about Hopkins needs to see his new house, instead saying hello and talking about normal stuff. Its just like the Showtime episode that aired, what is the first thing he does with Katie Couric? out of all things he tries to impress her by knowing what watch she had on.
