The biggest issue I see with Chavez is that he's best at 160, but he can't make 160 anymore. I also don't think it's because he's lazy when he trains. I think it's because he's physically too big for that weight.

The bigger issue is he isn't strong enough for 168 and up. So he's stuck. I believe Chavez career is over. He won't be forgiven in Mexico, and his luster and shine is now gone.

Let's be real here people, he barely got past Vera. I mean no disrespect to Vera but he was smaller and a face first brawler and Chavez arguably lost to him the first time.

Chavez is done IMO and I feel bad for the guy because he's living in a giant shadow he will never get out of.

Of course he's a big kid but when you have gone through trainers like skittles and all of them call you out publically for being lazy and when your promoter and dad call you out for being lazy then I think it's fair to say he's just lazy. Hell before the biggest fight of his career he was on 24/7 laying around his mansion in his underwear blowing off his Hall of Fame Trainer. lol And this isn't even getting into all the partying and weed smoking he does. Too many people close to him have accused him of just not being committed enough to boxing

I hear you but have you seen him at 168? He looks like a dead man walking. I just don't think he can make 168 let alone 160 anymore.

fonfara will also blast canelo on the same night
Canelo has a work ethic, so he doesnt need to fight LHW's.

Chavez should challenge himself between fights, and in camp.

Canelo used to fight at welter.

He went up and fought the 4 best JMW's on the planet.

Three years ago the hate for Canelo was absurd..... "he will never step up and fight a live opponent, and he will never win a title".....

And yes, I admit..... they were saying the same thing about Chavez.

Give him time bro, he just fought everyone at 154, and he has Kirkland up next in a fun fight..... I bet he fights everyone at 160 when he officially moves up.

Yes, including GGG, who Canelo is familar with.

At least Canelo takes his job seriously.

Just because jr was fighting at light heavy and looked like $h!t doesn't mean he wasn't a formidable middleweight because he was.
I agree with this post !

That fight was being mentioned when Canelo was fighting at 150 (lol), and when Jnr was training hard to make 160 (COUGH - Furosemide - COUGH).

Chavez had a huge weight advantage over Canelo at that point, and was a very sturdy middleweight. I think he would have been too much for Canelo at that stage in Canelos development.

Canelo is a much better fighter obviously, but size matters, Canelo would have really struggled to keep Jnr off him.

That fight did not happen then, and will not happen now, because Jnr cannot make a weight that will be suitable for Canelo.

Its how he makes the weight that counts.

He needs to be disciplined between fights, and commit to a full camp.

Chavez can make 168 and be healthy imho, but he would have to live like a fighter, not a playboy.
