Provodnikov needs either a high guard or head movement. The latter would require him to focus on nothing else for at least 12 months, for him to have any chance of actually improving it.

The former is more doable, but then he has to learn how to let his hands go from that position and forget about those big counters, which in truth are his greatest asset.

Either way his conditioning would have to improve. With all due respect to Mauricio Herrera, he was talking out of his ass when he said Lucas was one-paced and that Ruslan could shift through the gears. The complete opposite is true. Ruslan is as one-paced as it gets.

Despite having all the heart in the world, he's just not fit enough to turn the heat up going down the stretch, which is what a guy like him needs to be doing.
