Mexican icon Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. is upset that his son, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., was stopped in nine rounds by Andrzej Fonfara on Saturday night at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Chavez Sr. was never in favor of the contest, because Julio was inactive for 13 months and now moving up by two weight divisions to face a very solid light heavyweight contender in Fonfara, who came close to overtaking WBC champion Adonis Stevenson in the second half of their contest last year.

Chavez Sr. still see a lot of potential for his son and wants him to forget a rematch with Fonfara at 170, instead moving down to the super middleweight limit of 168-pounds.

Its a shame that Jnr is not mature enough to look past the father/son problems and listen to his old man.

The " I'm doing it my way " thing..... is childish and immature..... especially when you have no amateur experience, and a legend for a father.

Doing it your way, and getting pasted..... is nowhere near as good as having marginal success by doing it the established way.

He needs to stop lunging in like a damn bull or whatever tactic he tries to use and put his damn hands up. I actually started laughing at him last night, wondering what in the hell he was doing. He looked like a complete fool, walking in like that just eating punches....then to claim he was winning the fight? That's what happens when you live up on that pedestal. Chavez had a list of opponents and picked fonfara he didn't listen to nobody and can only blame himself love how you try and blame Haymon for Chavez choice he said it in interview he had a list of fighters he had to pick but did fonfara because made him the most money and he didn't wanna take tuneup fight
