Will Cotto suffer the same fate as Chavez Jr?

Fighting a bigger, stronger man. Using a catch-weight in an attempt to weaken him.

It backfired against Chavez with Fonfara.

Will Geale spoil a potential Cotto-Canelo fight?

Big Difference in Skill and resume.

Cotto might be trying something similar, but Cotto actually has faced legit and good competition, and is actually dedicated to the sport.

Geale has no power and isn't that good.

Yes he will. Hopefully he doesn't, but Geale is pretty good.

It could be a more difficult fight that anticipated, Cotto is not really a middleweight or even a big 154 pounder for that matter so if Gaele comes in like this is the opportunity of a lifetime there could be problems.

Still for the issues Cotto has he is true professional so he is not going to go out like Jr.. Now I could see Cotto losing but I don't think he ends up totally dominated like Jr.

I doubt it. Geale isn't quite good enough to beat Cotto. Cotto is far more skillful than Chavez. Chavez has a good punch in both hands and he can take a punch. Chavez is also slow and clumsy for a world class fighter. I hope Geale does beat Cotto. Geale would defend the title more than once a year and at the weight middleweight title fights are supposed to be fought at. 160 pounds and not an ounce less. Geale might even defend the title against the real middleweight champ GGG and that is something Cotto will clearly never do.
