Give it a try OP. Go to a local gym, see how you like it.
You don't always have to have a crazy arm reach advantage.
Okay thanks I will.
I don't understand why yall are acting as if I asked how to make my height larger or my arm length longer lol, I just asked if it's possible to be competitive seeing as I have a height disadvantage and most of my weight is located in my legs.
How lean are you at 135 lbs? If that's you're walking around weight u can fight at 126 or even 122, don't fight at any weight higher than 130 lbs. You have to take advantage of everything you have, if you're short with short reach then you'd make a good offensive inside fighter, you just have to learn how to do that, which won't be easy, but if you were taller it wouldn't have been much easier either. Manny Pacquiao has the same body as you and look what he did in boxing, same with Duran, Chavez and the list goes on and on, Mike Tyson was as tall as Golovkin and he fought as a heavyweight and everyone was bigger than him. You just have to give it all the time you have, be focused and not let people get you down, if you really want it you can do it, size doesn't mean **** if you're skilled and in good shape.

Pacquiao is 5'6 and Mayweather 5'8. They are making more money for their fight than all of MMA fighters make in a year combined. 5'6-5'8 is NOT short for boxing. It's only short for the larger weight classes like super middleweight to heavyweight, although there have been plenty of great fighters around that height there as well, Dwight Muhammad Qawi for example was 5'5 and one of the great Cruiserweights (he eventually fought at heavyweight as well).
Also having a lot of strength in your legs is perfect for boxing. Look at Pacquiao's legs. That's where a lot of power comes from.
Well, it doesn't matter what size you are...there are weight divisions out there for a reason.
It's great that you have big legs, better than then have big biceps and so on. You'll be moving the whole fight, you'll be able to deliver a better shot due to the power coming from the legs and you may even be more explosive.
I have ...im a former national champion/state arm wrestling champion...where do you train???I'll train you....let the troll idiots disperse here.....im located in P.A /N.Y.....if you are in the area......ive done boxing/MMA/martial arts ...im verty well schooled the ******s on here is why I keep coming back mostly other than trying to give a legit view of the combat sport...lmao
I just want to say first off that I'm sorry if this isn't the correct place to post.
So I'm a 16 year old dude who wants to get into a fighting sport. I did martial arts when I was younger but all I really know from that is how to throw a proper punch (or so I think). With stuff I do I like to be competitive about it, so I'm not interested really in self defense (although I'm sure that will come along with it) or health, more so I'm interested in the competition aspect and being able to spar and stuff. But I'm not sure if boxing is for me.
The reason I'm questioning is because I feel like with how my body is I would be more suited for Muay Thai or MMA. This is because first off I'm pretty short, I'm 5'6, and my doctor told me I'm probably going to end up only at 5'8. Also, most of my weight is in my legs (I weigh 135 lbs), I've for my whole life played very competitive high level soccer, so my legs are huge, where as my upperbody is lacking. So I'm just wondering if maybe I should go into MMA or muay Thai or something instead of boxing due to my body dimensions. Either way I don't really care, I just want to do something competitive. Thank you!
Everybody just makes due with what they got. The only difference between you and those people.... they are out there living it instead of talking about it. If you choose boxing than you'd better really want it, the truth will find you fast.
