Your just dumb. It was 7 million if chavez agrees to an extension. Chavez was just trying to finish his one fight left on his contract. So bob offered him like 1 mill plus ppv only after it was a certain number of buys. That's why chavez didn't fight for so long

I do think he has a solid floor in that people will like to see him get beaten up.

And how did that turn out for him now?

I can't imagine Haymon will continue to pay what he's paying him now, especially after he lost to a fringe contender and quit on the stool. Living off your fathers name can only go for so long.

Arum also had a really impressive showcase fight for Terence Crawford. Good night for him overall. Showtime took a big hit with taking on Chavez after that showing.

I don't think it will. Maybe in the eyes of guys like us but he still has a name known to casuals. And win or loose his fights are usually exciting. Put him in Texas and he will sell out.

That's because Arum knows how to promote a fighter.

The job he did with guiding Chavez Jr. to a title was really a masterpiece.

Chavez Jr., by declining the extension, not only declined a potential GGG PPV fight, he declined fights on HBO. He overlooked the fact that Bob was willing to protect him by giving easy opponents and prolonging his career.

Bob would never allow him to move up to that weight and fight someone like Fonfara who is a fringe contender, but with no name.

Bob was willing to match him up the Vera type opponents and he would probably only give him a tough fight if it would make a lot of money like Froch, Ward or GGG.

Chavez is done for..... He was good at middleweight because of his size advantage, but now that he can't make 160, he is forced to fight guys his own size.. Fonfara a mediocre lightheavy dominated him...
I shudder to think what kovolev or Stevenson, or ggg or froch or ward would ah e done to chavez..
I doubt we see chavez in a meaningful fight anytime soon if ever...

Maybe he can fight sakio bika on PBC

Your right about being guided better with arum but for some reason chavez didn't want to be with him he said arum was grossly underpaying him

Arum has some of the best matchmaking in the sport, definitely.

I think that was because people were buzzing in his ear and convincing he was worth more than he really was. Is it possible he was getting underpaid? Sure, but in relation to whom? Mayweather?

He got 3M for Martinez and he was getting $2.5M to fight guys like Brian Vera. That's a lot of money... I mean I'm all for fighters asking for more money and getting paid what they're worth, but it seems like Chavez Jr. was grossly overvaluing himself. I think now we found out that he was.
