Ruslan Provodnikov vs. Lucas Matthysse is the perfect mix of styles. You have two high contact, punchers who are close to or in their primes. On top of that both are in need of a big win. Early on I favored Matthysse. But after some time and a little research I'm leaning towards Provodnikov. I just feel he fights with a little more urgency and he changes gears better than Matthysse.

LOL. Breadman, Who you clearly never heard of, has arguably the best eyes in the entire sport. If you knew who he was you would be amazed of how accurate he breaks down fights, people make money off of his predictions, thats what got him popular..

read his breakdowns, and you'll see for youself, hes not even a journalist, Hes n adviser and trainer(He trains Julian Jrock Williams) and he only does these mailbags because of how good he is at it.

Hey bread you're one of the best picking and breaking down fights, should have stuck with mathysse this time.provo hasn't faced a pure puncher like mathysse and thats why his chin has held up, but with mathysse , provos wide open aggressive style will be his downfall. Completely disagree with this. Ruslan punches better in combination than Matthysse? He hasn't even got a jab or uppercut. His combination punching consists of telegraphed left & right hooks.

I don't think Provodnikov does anything as well as Matthysse at all, he is maybe stronger. A lot of people seem confident he takes a shot better. Based on what? He hasn't fought anyone who can remotely punch. Bradley was stunning him. Tim Bradley!

I can't see Matthysse losing this fight & think he is grossly underrated these days.

Strike two. Matthysse clearly has better defense. No doubt about that. Provo has no defense other than stopping punches with his face while Matthysse is known to parry punches, and has good head movement.

If Provodnikov wins, it will be through brute force and will, combined with Matthysse screwing up and not taking advantage of his overall better boxing skills and ring IQ, browling it out when he really just needs to exploit Provodnikovs known weakness.
