Ok, What a mess Stevenson/Kovalev is!

So what are you guys thinking about this? Considering like 90% here are Kovalev fans.

The fight went to purse bids, and I don't care what the fighter said/thought, he allowed his promoter to turn it down. We've been hearing it's Stevenson who is the duck, so what is happening?

Personally, I don't believe either fighter is ducking here, Stevenson would take the fight at a purse bid but I think Duva wants more money for a guy, which is fair enough but she and Kov have to remember, Stevenson is the draw in this one, he is the ticket seller (still a very important part of boxing promotion).

Kov and co should remember what brought them to the dance in the first place: taking short money against top opposition and making a name for themselves and enhancing Kovs reputation as a fighter. This is the final step, if they get that Stevenson wins, Kov is without a doubt the biggest draw in the division.

what kind of assessment is that? don't be a fighter fan, be a fight fan. what do you think of duvas rejection of the purse bid and her fighter getting a chance at complete unification? why does stevenson suck for duvas/kovs actions?

Unless Kovalev was going to be paid an insultingly low amount or less than 50% of the purse, then I say Duva should not have turned down the proposal. Being the undisputed, lineal champ in any division is priceless.

Maybe we don't know and will never know all the facts, but at this point I believe Duva made a bad business decision.

I don't think Kovalev was going to get 50%, but that's ok, the upside was huge.

Does Stevenson sell more than Kovalev?

              How about TV ratings?

              I'm not entirely sure

It was gonna be a 50/50 max revenue situation. As opposed to one company (HBO) assigning whatever dollar figure they see fit to it. Kovalev potentially stood to make a whole lot more than any other fight if his team bid the right way.

It's HBO or Duva. Both are extremely bitter when it comes to Haymon.
