RICKY HATTON has warned Manny Pacquiao not to make the same mistakes he made when fighting boxing brain Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Filipino puncher Pacquiao, 36, takes on Mayweather in boxing’s richest fight on May 2 in Las Vegas.

Former world champion Hatton has shared a ring with both greats and reckons the 38-year-old American is the cleverest man in the sport.

But he still thinks Pacquiao has a chance to dethrone Maywather in the £250m super fight if he does not rush in on the unbeaten pound-for-pound king.

Everybody seems to be riding the same prediction.

Close for the first few and then Floyd adjusts and cruises. Now yeah, I get why this is the prevailing thought. There's a reason why everybody is riding this prediction. Will it play out like a script? Yeah, it could.

But in fights like this, rarely do they ever play out to the script everybody writes prior to the fight.

Most, yeah. I think Cotto said he favored Manny, though. Although that will be brushed aside by Floyd fans who say it's just because Manny & Miguel are in the same stable.

Manny only has one way of fighting and he will find the going tough when that is nullified. Floyd will take all that in and out out, make Manny miss and pick him apart. Make no mistakes, this fight wont be close. Manny will look like a bum and after that all the haters will have to find someone else to hype.

I tend to agree, but Mayweather is the exception to this rule.
