His style might be perfect for the heavyweight division and I was wondering if he would be better suited at the heavyweight division.
Could Tarver be successful vs. the HEAVYWEIGHT champions?

Think about how tough and durable Jirov was for a large cruiserweight and how he was hurt by a decent puncher like Moorer. Now insert lanky ass Tarver into Jirov's shoes and prepare to cry like a ****** boy who accidently fed his kitty drano (not to call you a ******, you understand, but what I just said makes me laugh).
Maybe Tarver can tangle with the cruisers but heavyweight is a terrible idea.Comment

Can Tarver be successful as a Heavyweight? Ah, no. Tarver is not a monster puncher at light heavyweight. At Heavyweight his power would be the equivalent of a Ivan Calderon. To much size for Tarver to overcome. Even small heavyweights like Monte Barrett and Dominick Guinn look huge compared to him. He'll struggle with former cruiserweight champion Juan Carlos Gomez. Chris Byrd is the only one I would give him a chance with, especially with Byrd's defense slipping with age.Comment

too many weaknesses
Tarver's not physically big enough or strong enough to move up to heavyweight. I wouldn't put it past him to do ok as a cruiserweight as long as he fought guys outside the top 10 though. Tarver's neck is not thick, he's fairly small-boned and he's not a big puncher for a light heavy, so why would anyone think that he has any business gaining 30 pounds or so and fighting as a heavyweight? The only thing that Tarver has going for him if he were fighting as a heavyweight is his height (6'2") and reach (75"). Bob Foster was not much as a heavyweight in spite of dominating the light heavyweight division and being 6'3". Furthermore, the 2 former light heavyweights who successfully moved up (Holyfield and Moorer) and won world titles did so at a young age, less than 30 years old. Tarver is much too old to suddenly put on a bunch of weight and do it correctly like the way Holyfield did.Comment

Tarver can't even beat a regular heavy weight fighter so he won't have any chance against the division's title holders.Comment
