Comments Thread For: Hearn: I Want Quigg-Donaire, No Money in Rigondeaux

WBA "regular" super bantamweight champion Scott Quigg (30-0-2, 22 KOs) has a lot of choices in front of him for July 18th. Quigg's promoter, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport, is trying to get him a contest with former multi-division champion Nonito Donaire (34-3, 22 KOs), who is planning to return to action on the same date as a headliner in Macau, China. If Donaire falls through, then Hearn will pursue former IBF champion Kiko Martinez (32-5, 24 KOs).

Hearn had first attempted to make a fight between Quigg and IBF ruler Carl Frampton. Things did not go as planned.

"I made Carl Frampton an offer of 1.5 million. Before that we made an offer of 60-40 on a co-promotion - they turned that down as well. They turned down a guarantee. I don't know if they want the fight. They said they do, but we're the ones bringing the money to the table. Our broadcaster is the one putting all the money up and why should we give them the co-promotion, but we will, and they turned that down as well," Hearn told BoxingScene.com/Be Real TV.

Whatever happened to being the best?
It's sad when someone claiming to be a champion and the best in the division tries every excuse in the book to avoid a fighter.

If he makes the Donaire fight then I don't see how people can even complain.

I would put money on even this Donaire wiping out Quigg.

Donaire would beat Quigg anyway. Then hopefully he would give Rigondeaux the rematch.

I think both Carl frampton and Quigg need to fight one of Nonito or Santa Cruz before trying to fight Rigo, they need that experience plus another fight or two before Rigo.

Turning down a shot at the lineal champion to fight the lineal champion's son. Real brave.

but, arent they belt holders, world champions and claiming to be the best?
When is any of them gonna fight him? When he comes out of retirement at age 40?

What shot have they turned down? Has there been an offer from Rigondeaux's people?

I don't really care about seeing Scott Quigg get ******ed by Rigondeaux in all honesty. I don't know why people are so high on that fight.

I have never seen THE CHAMP in a weight division have to beg for a fight!!! And I can't stand that old line "He doesn't bring any money to the table." If he were an easy mark or even a good but flawed champ then Quigg, Frampton, and Santa Cruz would be licking their chops to beat him and become lineal champ.
