Unless you're blind, bias, or don't understand that boxing is scored on a round by round basis, there's no way you can up with the conclusion that Peterson won that fight. And this is coming from a guy who has no regard for Danny Garcia in the slightest.
Is it the most desirable scenario that a guy has little activity or effectiveness in majority of the fight only to storm back the last 4-5 rounds? No. With the history of corruption in the sport it's easy to look with the naked eye and see Peterson dominate the last 4 rounds of a fight and believe he got robbed of a decision.
The reason being is even though Danny Garcia won the rounds he didn't do anything noticeable to catch the eye of the crowd or the general fan. Peterson did those last few rounds. The fact is although Garcia didn't do anything impressive in the early rounds or in barely any of the rounds, Peterson was even less impressive.
From my observation it looked like Peterson was trying to stay as far away from Garcia as possible and had no interest in engaging or even boxing. He threw some jabs. But he could usually not be found in the vicinity of fighting distance. He looked to me as a fighter who got KO'd his last fight and wanted to avoid being hit with a big shot. And he was more interested in avoiding Garcia rather than the boxing aspect of moving around and controlling the ring and distance. I seen a lot of moving but no control of anything.
The Peterson we seen from rounds 8-12 was usually the one we always seen. Tough. gritty, sneaky power shots, etc. That's who we should've seen rounds 1-7 and it would've made for a much better main event. He has no one to blame but himself for his inactivity early on. Which is strange since he wanted to display he had enough energy to stand in his corner rather than sit. But he didn't seem to transfer that energy into punches until the 8th round. I was rooting for him too.

Last time I checked, the objective of boxing is to engage in combat...Rounds 1-7 lamont ran with the objective of gassing Swift, which he succeeded marvelously. Although when they actually went toe 2 toe...review whom got the better of the exchanges...assuming u can view w/o the envy hate lens...

I had it 5 rounds to 7 for Garcia and that's giving a swing round to Peterson just out of pity. ****** game plan and lmao @ leonard, worst commentary I heard in a while. Lamont did expose a huge weakness in Danny's inside game.

It was a close fight. It was clear that Peterson ended strong in the last 3 rounds. It was anyone's game. You can prefer the defensive style of Peterson, where you move around and try to wear out your opponent, or the offensive style of García where you throw and hit air but also some skin. I think Peterson moved too much and threw too little in the first half of the fight, and García was throwing and getting points, some of the middle rounds were the same.
Peterson waited too much. That's it!Last edited by Rambú; 04-15-2015, 04:19 AM.
