Ring girls: Important tradition or antiquated sexism?

Theoretically though, if feminists want women to be empowered then wouldn't it make sense for them not to complain about women doing jobs they want to do?

Most women enjoy dressing up, showing off their figures and meeting people. Taking the opportunity to get paid while doing it on the grounds of feminism or sexism seems needlessly oppressive.

Feminism is the ugly woman's way of trying to rewrite "sexy." At some point I imagine their goal is to make Lena Dunham and the bearded catlady the new "hot." NO fckin thanks..

Feminism is so full of contradictions and desperate bids to control that which cannot be controlled. I find their pursuits to be often mired in childish nonsense complete with temper tantrums. The real women existed back in the 50s. None of this whiny 45 year old in pigtails shyt we see all over Brooklyn in 2015. Confused perpetual children mad that the world has little need for ugly women with cankles. It bees that way btches... ~PC

I noticed their absence in the last PBC event.

I never really saw a problem with them, but my wife absolutely detests the practice and has concinced me that they are offensive to female boxing fans (as well as female MMA fans).

Is it time to finally put an end to the use of ring girls in fighting sports?

You can totally tell they're all very intelligent and have very interesting opinions and ideas. The more intelligent ones wear the skimpiest outfits as an expression of their femininity and to empower themselves.:boobies::boobies::boobies:

Apparently dancing and strutting around in a minimal amount of clothing to appease a predominantly male audience bothers her a bit, especially considering the fact that we're probably not gonna see any dudes in banana hammocks carrying a round card during a female boxing match. To her, it reinforces the notion that she isn't supposed to watch boxing because it's a male sport for male fans. But tbh, she knows more about the sweet science than some of the guys on NSB.

The thing is lots of girls actually enjoy being ring card girls and cheerleaders - they find it a fun thing to do, they like showing off their bodies and they get paid to do it. So tell your wife that she's actually trying to stop women from enjoying themselves while getting paid. Is your wife actually sexist against women ? She's trying to prevent them from being free to do what they choose. That's taking away women's rights!
