“Al Haymon is one of the smartest men in boxing. I know that when a person builds up a fan base like I have, you have a certain responsibility to get out a message to your fans. But I also have to be a businessman. I was really excited about the Korobov fight and in my opinion, I can beat that man. But the guy that’s behind the scenes is going to advise what’s best for me,” said Quillin.

“That scenario is based on a fight-by-fight basis. I’m trying to make sure that I stay focused, stick to the game plan and make sure that my eye is on the prize at all times. This is a business. I have to conduct myself that way. That championship belt might be everything to some people and I was blessed to have it. But there are more other champions out there and there is a bigger picture. A lot of people might never understand that.”

He's not a big name by any means, no belt, and now Haymon is oayng him out of his pocket, so it's doubtful he's going to hand him a overpriced payday, especially after missing weight.
I don't get why Haymon is backing such an obvious dud to be honest. If last night wasn't the final straw it's not far off it.

I think it's disgraceful when you miss weight especially for a title

Haymon is going to get terrible ratings headlining with repulsive acts like Kid eats too much Chocolate, Andre 'flip flop' Dirrell.

Haymon screwed him over with the Korobov fight but overall, Quillin has benefited big-time from having Haymon on his side. Let's face it, he's not that good, and has earned as easy a living in boxing as it gets, with all these undercard fights.

You have to wonder about the "genius" of Haymon when he's pushing Quillin as someone who can become a mainstream star.

Things like that, and the way fighters like Adonis and Santa Cruz have lost all steam from their career, make me think that while he's obviously incredibly smart, Haymon isn't as boxing smart as he thinks he is.

His idea seems to have been over-paying fighters to lure in enough other fighters to then take them all to the mainstream, but all without one legitimate star for when Floyd retires.

great point especially with the fighters you mentioned losing steam..it will be interesting how long his staying power will be when everything isn't going so smoothly

plus the way he's bringing these fighters (leo, quillin) against soft touches, they're not really developing the way they need to in order to take the next level...i see Quillin struggling with the Rosado's and Lee's of the world, i can only imagine when its time to step up to A-level talent..might be embarrassing...like when they tried to step up Russel with Loma

Haymon is trying to build a new brand, the last thing he wanted or needed was ROC putting on a monster event announcing themselves the new party in town to attend, when Haymon is starting his own super club, behold PBC.

Ok I don't like Quillin, but he said the fans would understand he had to to make the fights the fans want, right now Haymon is putting on those events. Quillin pays the ultimate price, although he was paid step aside money and Haymon just bought him a shot back at his belt, Haymon needed Quillin and now he has repaid his debt to him. Quillin ****ed up with the weight and performance.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Quillin versus Andre Dirrell for the IBF title this year, or Antony Dirrell too. He has options and Haymon will make it up to him for being made to look ******.

My only grievance in all this is the new PBC formats are really poor atmospheric.
