  • Comments Thread For: Quillin Open to Lee Rematch, But Not in Ireland

The fight between Andy Lee and Peter Quillin was a close and entertaining battle, one in which Lee hit the canvas twice and Quillin went down once. One judge saw it 113-112 for Lee. Another had it 113-112 for Quillin. The third had it even, making it a draw. It seems rational, then, that the two should fight again.

Both men are open to it.

“I train for anybody. I train to fight anybody. Do I want to fight a rematch? Yeah,” Quillin said at the post-fight press conference. “Tell me how much money’s involved and let’s do it.”

Said Lee: “If my next fight is Peter Quillin, so be it. And it should be in Ireland because he has an Irish last name — and maybe he can find some ancestors there.”

But Quillin would rather remain on this side of the Atlantic Ocean.

Action wise, yes, but career wise it doesn't do anything for Lee. Plus BJS needs his mandatory shot too, so probably won't happen anyway.

Quillen needs to grow a pair and fight in Ireland. Lee has the belt and sets the agenda, not Quillen. They would make a ton of money in Ireland.

They only judging worse than british is german where you have to knock the local guy out to win the shit.

Going to be another Froch-Dirrell boxing disgrace.

Brother Peter is correct on here.

Action wise? The fight was close to action free and one of the most boring middleweight bouts I have seen in a long time. Not a fight I would want to see again.

It seems likely that the Lee-BJS fight will happen next and then the winner will face Eubank Jr. If Quillin can be trusted to make 160 the Jacobs fight is going to happen sooner rather than later, both with Haymon, from NY and both either unwilling or unable to fight the other beltholders this year.
