Yeah but Wlad never even wanted a rematch and I've never heard him say after the fight that he wanted one. It seems obvious that after you beat a big name like Wlad that there is a automatic rematch clause.
no, WBO prohibits explicitly the automatic rematch...
Wlad said immediately after the fight that he wanted a rematch and had the right to one.
Steward had nothing to do with Wlad at this time, and was totally invested in Lennox. Lennox and Sanders shared the same management at the time and Lennox had been encouraging Sanders leading up to the fight. Lennox wanted absolutely nothing to do with Wlad. Lennox only came back after Wlad lost, because he didn't want to fight WLad and the pressure to fight him by HBO and the fans was becoming so intense that he had to either face Wlad or retire, unless Wlad lost.
As for not knowing he was a southpaw, I doubt that seriously. It's not like Sanders was known as the opponent for a long time, though. HBO gave Wlad the date and the fight was offered to a ton of top American HW's who all turned it down. Sanders got the fight by default, because he was the only one with the balls to go there and face Wlad. So while I'm sure they knew he was a southpaw, I doubt they studied much tape of him and did any research. Wlad seemed indestructible at the time, and I'm sure they didn't think Sanders was as dangerous as he was. Their own fault.
....If that is true then it just goes to show how over confident Wlad was. He just didn't give a **** who he was fighting. Hey, maybe he thought he was gonna be a black guy(Corey Sanders).
That don't matter much, Wlad is was a schooled amature with lot of experiance that that shouldn't have mattered.
Im sure people who have boxed have fought fighters, and then realized that they are a southpaw and had to adapt. Wlad failed to adapt if thats his excuse.

....Alot of people don't want to remember the fact that Lennox was encouraging and advising Sanders in hopes that he could dethrone Wlad. When Sanders took out Wlad, Lennox Lewis breathed a major sigh of relief.

Sorry but thats bull****! Lennox was the one who was telling Sanders (a friend) to just go out and slug him to death. Lewis knew how to beat Wlad and thats why he did this to Vitali when they fought (thinking they were the same).
