Silver medalist turned pro prospect John Joe Nevin was allegedly involved in a bar fight earlier this week that ended with Nevin and four other men being arrested. He is due in court on Friday, according to the Irish Independent.

This is the second arrest to make headlines for Nevin this year. In February, he was accused of criminal damage after allegedly “causing 200 euros worth of damage to ornaments and a glass cabinet belonging to a Rosemarie Nevin,” the article said.

Nevin was a bantamweight in the 2012 Olympics in London, dropping a decision and the gold medal to British boxer Luke Campbell. [Click Here To Read More]

Nevin really pissed this opportunity away, i knew he was never gonna make it as a pro, the minute he signed whit that promotion company, jay quiggly turned pro around the same time,has had 5fights, tv exposure in the states trough friday night fights, luke Campbell is getting exposure in the uk, is moving up levels slowly but surely, and then nevin hasnt fought since november,has had only 3 fights,no real exposure,and been arrested a few times,??the fck! you can take the traveler out of mulingar but

Well to be fair he did have both his legs broken.

Agree with those who say his style isn't suited to the pros. He's more of a fencer than a pro-style boxer. The weird thing is that despite that, he's fought like a brawler in his pro bouts to date. Trying too hard to put on a show.

Hard to be optimistic about him at the moment, but he does have talent and I wouldn't write him off just yet.
