Comments Thread For: Carl Frampton's Column Prompts Stern Hearn Response

Belfast’s Carl Frampton has once again outlined his reasons for not taking up Eddie Hearn’s offer of a guaranteed 1.5 million pounds for a unification fight with Bury’s Scott Quigg. Hearn made the offer live on Sky Sports News earlier this week only to be rebuffed by Frampton via a release sent out by Clones Cyclone Promotions, Barry McGuigan’s promotional outfit.

Frampton has used his column in today’s Northern Ireland Newsletter to explain why he doesn’t consider Hearn’s offer to be an enticing one. ‘On Tuesday at a press conference in Matchroom Sport’s headquarters, Eddie Hearn and Scott Quigg made me a very public offer to fight Quigg on Sky PPV, on July 18 in Manchester,’ wrote the IBF Super bantamweight champion.

    Frampton is absolutely right.

This is the equivalent of Floyd Mayweather's ridiculous $40m flat rate publicity stunt offer to Pacquaio on Twatter a few years ago.

Eddie Hearn is becoming a ***ing laughing stock.

50-50 down the line.If both sides believe they'll win then they shouldn't really have a problem with it.

What are you talking about Frampton is the bigger name and holds the only legitimate belt he diserves at least a 60/40 split

I'd love to see this fight, but honestly, there are plenty of other fights for each I'd like to see just as much, if not more.

118-126 is stacked, and I'd love to see either fight the likes of: 122 - Donaire, Santa Cruz; 118 - Yamanaka, Kameda; 126 - Russell Jr., Selby, Mares, Gradovich, Sonsona...

Then of course the big unification at 122 with Rigo.

I left out Walters, and Loma because I feel like they are both too big/too skilled for either at this point or the near future. I don't see Walters being able to make 126 for much longer anyway.

Doubt this fight does well on PPV but Frampton should have a cut of it anyway.

I think we all know the parading of the cheque on TV was a publicity stunt. No genuine big fight negotiation has ever been helped by those kind of stunts.

That said I believe we'll get this fight soon. Both camps want it and all it'll take is Matchroom & Cyclone actually respectfully negotiating terms.

I think Rigo beats both Frampton & Quigg. They'd be smart to fight each other before either loses to Rigo

Lol.Really? 50-50 is perfect or like they stated,60-40 to the winner if they're that confident.Frampton maybe has the bigger fanbase, that's about it.

                  This is the truth.

                  Hearn's twitter is comical.

One thing Hearn said that I agree with is why not just counter the offer Matchroom made instead of writing a column?
