It was a cheap shot why even argue about the punch the video speaks for itself. Only the Pac-tards are going to say it was not a cheap shot

Pacquiao stopped hopping around and looked at him for a split second than gave him the lethal left. He knew he was down, he just got caught up in the moment. Be fair.

It still shocks me how no one said jack ****, not even JMM's corner said anything from what I remember of the broadcast..

      You're trolling for no reason.
nah, it was a heat of the moment thing and pacquiao wasn't sure as marquez wasn't down all the way, it's not like mayweather who sees a vulnerable opponent, and always jumps him, he has a history of it

look at him stopping and recognizing that corrales was down and vulnerable, thus like in his nature, he strikes him illegally

Everyone mentions how explosive the 1st round was but the 3rd and final knockdown has two different dynamics to it that I've never heard mentioned.

First, Pacquiao clearly and deliberately hit Marquez AFTER he was down. Marquez left hand was on the canvas his right had clinging to the rope; Pacquiao stopped for a moment and decided to still smash him with an illegal straight left hand. Joe Cortez (confused as usual) said and did absolutely nothing, and Jim Lampley and the HBO crew didn't make a peep about it. This was at least as bad as what got RJJ DQ'd against Griffin if not worse

On the flipside after Marquez got hit with the illegal blow he fell back on the canvas and laid himself flat as if the fight was over. He had both gloves covering his face like he was done and by the way he sprung back to his feet I think he was surprised that Joe Cortez was even giving a count. I strongly believe that either Marquez thought Cortez was going to call the fight off at the moment because of the all the knockdowns, or that for a quick second he was trying to look more hurt than he actually was in order to get a point deduction or possibly a DQ victory after the illegal punch by Pacquiao.

In my opinion Pacquiao deserved a 1 point deduction for that. If everything else remained the same on the judge's scorecard JMM would have won by a split decision.

          Thoughts?
Ha, JMM was caught with his guard down while he was on the canvas, there's no "proper way" to react, just try to gather your senses as soon as possible and beat the count. And that's what he did, and fought his way back.
          Couldn't ask for more.

Its ******ed to say Pac should've been DQ'd. Like all logical posters has said it was in the heat of the moment.

As far as Marquez covering his face after the 3rd knockdown, imo he thought there was a 3 knockdowns rule and he had lost but as soon as he saw Cortez counting he got back up.

Could've not should've. It worked out better that he didn't, JMM came back and outboxed Pacquiao during the rest of the fight. We also got 3 other fights and one of the most memorable KO's in boxing history.

                    Better question..........

I have a better question for you. Should the judge who "claims" he miscalculated the 10-6 round, have been DQ'ed??? Because I think he should've been. Smh. Some of these threads are petty and make no sense.
