  • Comments Thread For: Video: Sergey Kovalev Shaking Out at The Wild Card

Los Angeles, California - Radio Rahim caught up with WBO/IBF/WBA light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev, who was shaking out at Freddie Roach's Wild Card Gym in Hollywood. Kovalev is still waiting for a date, likely in June or July, for his IBF mandatory defense against Nadjib Mohammedi. If Kovalev gets past that fight, he will be in line for a mandatory shot at the WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson. The Stevenson-Kovalev purse bid is scheduled for April 17th - unless the two sides reach an agreement.

I get that vibe from him as well but I respect it, not everyone has that killer instinct. I wouldn't wish serious harm on any boxer but I like to watch a guy who's prepared for war mentally and physically.

lol yeah, he's an animal in there and doesn't give a fcuk about his opponent, it's kill or be killed, great to watch.

At the same time I've seen him tap gloves to apologize if he's thrown one low etc so he respects the rules of combat and he appears to be a stand-up guy outside the ring. Interesting character for sure.

So I wonder if he does leave JDJ? Wildcard has always been a hub for top talent to train, I wonder if it remains when Roach hangs them up?

kovalev should fight adonis next, not some mandantory. kovalev has definitely earned the right to pick his opponent, should there be one better than mohammedi.

... He tapped the gloves with B-Hop, after he floored him, because he didn't mean that...
