It was a hometown stoppage but still well deserved because Maragritos a cheater. I was a fan of his until I heard the facts and I immediately pulled my fan card. Margarito deserved no favors, Arum paid him hefty for his cheating ways and lack of athleticism.

Was Margarito on his way to stopping Cotto in the Rematch?

Sure it think Mickey was most likely gonna control the fight but we all wanted to see it develop more.
I think the stoppage was crap. A few months before we saw smoger let Wolak fight with a completely shut eye in new york. I don't know why they didn't let margarito continue. It was the same commission and the same ref that night.
Perhaps, but I think the extent and documented history of Tony's injuries were deeper than just a swollen eye. Remember Tony had surgery on that eye with fractures too. Not the same as a fighter with a swollen eye. The doctor had more to consider with Tony's eye.

Smoger said on the rodriguez/wolak fight that he allowed it to continue because wolak was still game and was fighting back. The way he looked, I really thought he had a broken orbital bone as well. I just feel like the fight should've continue.

ismael38 said So many idiots on here about Margarito....Cotto was throughly dominating by boxing smart in the rematch whichbhe should have done in the first too. Margarito was always a cheater n believe he cheated his becoming a champion from andrew six heads lewis fight with plaster. I loved margarito but very disappointed when he cheated since he was such with his conditioning n the volume of punches he threw in a fight. The only thing differently with the cotto rematch would be had margarito not been with a busted eye could have been a different fight altogether. In cottos defense he abandoned the body work he was notorious for and could have destroyed margarito like mosley did
@ismael38 lol mosely was juiced you nub if you couldn't see that get you salty eyes checked lmao i didn't get owned in no shape or fashion you boy got owned when margarito ****d him stop crying son accept it margarito is his daddyLast edited by puro dinamita; 04-18-2015, 02:56 AM.

Smoger had the right idea and what was best for the sport of boxing so he consulted with Miguel Cotto when Margs started to come on a bit. If Margs had gained some momentum and hurt Cotto, it certainly would not have been a good business decision for Cotto to take a knee and lose the fight again. Since Cotto is a boss Smoger decided to stop the fight because that is what is best for Miguel Cotto, which is why we watch boxing.

Anyone remember Cotto staring Margarito down after the fight?
At least Margarito finished on his feet!
