I always thought this guy was the new Don King, this confirms it. He is bad for boxing, it took people many years to catch on to how King ruined boxing, look how the heavyweight division went to **** in the 80's and after. Last year was terrible in boxing, bad fights, bad decisions, Salka type mismatches and avoiding dangerous fights. The PBC mismatches the other day, you could have switched opponents and actually had 2 competitive fights, instead 2 blood baths, good match making, at least King actually had some 50-50 or 60-40 fights instead of 95-5 or 90-10, boxing deserves better.

You have some points but I don't think you're seeing the big picture.

Boxing has been broken and corrupt for years. The WBC, the WBA and to a lesser extent the IBF and the WBO are all corrupt organizations that have refused to work with each other for a better of the sport. Their rankings suck, they sanction mismatches and don't enforce their own rules.

Then you have the promotional side of the field. Bob Arum, Don King, Golden Boy and all of these promoters were greedy and did not want to work with each other for the better of the sport. They wanted to make everything in house, if they work "out-of-house" they want options in case their guy loses, and they have such an influence on judging that we have seen some unbelievable decisions. Not to mention these promoters have ties to networks, sign the fighters to exclusive contracts to occupy the primes of their careers and end up sidelining guys because they aren't generating enough money or they are ripping him off resulting in an extended lawsuit.

That's where Haymon came in. He saw this cluster**** of an organization and sought to bring in order. He signed fighters, essentially eliminated promotional deals and is now looking to eliminate the sanctioning bodies. For the first time in years, we may finally get what we all one, no promotional beefs, no network wars, no lawsuits sidelining fighters for 3 years, one champion, national exposure and fights actually being made. Promoters will now have to bid on fights not fighters.

Haymon did what Top Rank, GBP, Don King, the WBC, WBA, WBO and IBF couldn't do and that is take control of the sport and bring order. There are a lot of drawbacks but I'm happy he's sticking it up the asses of all of these corrupt *******s. They had 3 decades to get it right and all they did was destroy the sport with their greed.

Haymon isn't a saint but all of the other authorities in boxing can go to hell for all I care.

It isn't that crucial though because if Haymon has a champion and there is a guy that emerges from outside PBC that become a special event which if both guys don't blow it will most likely occur because the money will be right. Because Haymon is a capitalist after all.

It does and it is the first time in my life time that something in boxing is actually changing in a possibly positive fashion (not deteriorating which is about the only change I have witnessed).

I could set my watch by boxing really even though all sorts of weird stuff happened. I have no idea how Haymon will play this exactly because no single entity has controlled boxing since the mob (which was the golden or silver era of boxing) and there is a lot of work to go from c to z.

I really do want to see how his product interacts with the outside boxing world, there is a lot of speculation from people positive or negative as to how this will play out but honestly at this moment no one has any real idea how it will all fit together.

I hope they have their own belts and become a UFC type organization... Boxing needs structure badly, and this will allow it..

Sure, some guys will be left out in the cold, and there will be some growing pains, just like how there was in mma when pride and ufc were competing against each other. But eventually that stuff erodes away and we will get a clear champ in every division..

And having their own belts will force haymon to be a good matchmaker, and have champs defend vs credible challengers just like UFC.
It will take a few years to really gain hold, but post floyd/manny, i think this will be great for the sport and usher in a new era
