Cotto Denies $13 Million/Pacquiao Rumor, Blames Weight
Former three division world champion Miguel Cotto (37-3, 30KOs) denies that he was offered and/or turned down a guarantee of $13 million dollars to fight Manny Pacquiao in a rematch on December 8th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

"He had no problems in dealing with Margarito at 150. He hasn't had problems with anyone regarding weight. With Joshua Clottey, they fought at 147. I [went] down to 145. The [rematch], I'm going to do it at my weight. I will not sacrifice my body again for the benefit of another boxer. It won't happen at 147 pounds."
    ~ Miguel Cotto

Manny Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38 KO) was heavily rumored to be facing Miguel Cotto (37-2, 30 KO) on June 9 in Las Vegas. Team Pacquiao has stated Cotto could come in no higher than 147 lbs...

MARK "TOO SHARP" JOHNSON ON MAYWEATHER VS. PACQUIAO:

I looked at Manny Pacquiao and I see that he's done like Roy Jones and Aaron Pryor. All three of them do the same thing. They do everything wrong in boxing, but they were so fast that they get away with it. As time starts slowing down, you see what happened to Aaron Pryor, you see what happened to Roy Jones, and you see what's happening to Pacquiao. I think Floyd is going to be too big, a lot of good defense, and I just don't think Pacquiao is going to be able to deal with it.

So what I had to tell people is this. What about when Pacquiao fought Cotto? What about when Pacquiao fought De La Hoya? He looked way better than when Floyd fought those two guys? I had to break it down to them that Pacquiao fought those guys at 147, a weight class that killed Cotto to make and a weight class that Oscar De La Hoya hadn't made in 10 years. So if you don't know boxing, they pulled the wool over your eyes with a name. You think it's a good fight because of the name. Floyd fought those guys at 154 pounds, their best weight. Floyd fought Cotto and Oscar at 154, their best weight. They didn't have to lose weight, they didn't have to kill themselves. So I like Floyd in the fight by decision. I don't think it's going to be a stoppage.
LOL, go ahead.....break it down for us Johnson...like when you started to slow down you started to get KTFO?

Marquez's brother, rafael, laid him out in his prime. The guy's an idiot who felt the world owed him something and was jealous of guys in upper weight classes making more money than him because he thought he was the greatest boxer ever. Now he's a junkie lol.

He was on drugs or selling or something even when he was fighting. But I disagree about him being in his prime when he had his fights against Marquez. Not to take anything away from Rafael but Johnson had been inactive and aging fast.

Lol pcp will do that to ya. You might be right about him not being prime but I'd still take Marquez over him a few yeas earlier too. Same with tapia and carbajal.

There is tension because Cotto probably believes Manny was on the juice. His 2 losses in the prime of his career was against Margs and Manny. Manny's team also declined to fight Cotto at 154lb. Also, I am not surprised that Cotto mentioned FMJ's foot speed. That plus his anticipation makes him very tough to hit.

Maybe, but that is just opinion.

In the article linked above, Cotto actually stated that he was unhappy with the weight manipulation. And some of his comments in other articles tend to indicate his mindset.
