  • Comments Thread For: Arum, Roach Differ on Aftermath of Mayweather Loss

WBC/WBA welterweight and junior middleweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. has turned back 45 opponents in 47 fights. He risks his undefeated record on May 2nd against his career rival, WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

If Mayweather is defeated by Pacquiao, and then loses that undefeated record, some wonder if he's capable of bouncing back.

Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, who promotes Pacquiao, sees Mayweather as potentially becoming more marketable, with an increase of fans, if he loses on May 2.

If Floyd lost, it would lead to the first trilogy of his career, and the rematch would sell huge money cuz everyone would want to see if it was a fluke, and Floyd would probably go total "Baldomir fight" and probably win.

None of this matters anyway. Sr. seems to be the trainer and Sr. likes his defense.

When Floyd wins, he likely retires.

Nah, Team Pacquiao know that Floyd is only great against slow and flatfooted fighters and that's why Floyd avoided Pacquiao for 5 years. Floyad never fought an elite fighter in their prime except for Marquez who need to go up 2 weightclass to fight the cherrypicker.

It is always a sore feeling when somebody lost in a fight...specially in a world celebrated fight, but a loser is much glorified when he comes back and wins in a comeback. It is how you handle a loss and how you come back from a loss.

The whole event is almost managed by Mayweather Promotions. Floyd Sr personally call Kenny Bayless to ref on Maidana fight. So Floyd have power to choose which referee to use.

Pacquiao experienced getting robbed at Vegas. Floyd never. Floyd's opponent(Castillo) experienced getting robbed. Pac is more likely to get robbed on May 2 than Floyd.

Floyd don't need to train hard on this fight. All he got to do is avoid getting knockdown or KO by Pac and Al Haymon judges will give the vote to Floyd. If Pac knockdown Floyd, no problem, Floyd will just push Pac hard to touch the canvas and Kenny Bayless will call it a knockdown https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPKoPXl3VwA Like Floyd said, it comes with the territory.
