Cotto is probably looking for someone to fight that HBO will have no reason to refuse or put conditions on. Picking one of GGG's previous opponents gives Cotto a better bargaining position. He has no interest in fighting either Canelo or GGG at middleweight and he really needs to get back in the ring.
You tell em Gaby, these guys have no clue.

      Bye Gabby, see you then

          -Cotto is fighting early June
-Cotto is fighting in New York
-Cotto is likely fighting at Madison Square Garden

As long as he's in their with another warm body, he's going to do big business for this showcase fight. He's not fighting a monster for this fight, so it almost doesn't matter who he fights.

He wins, looks good, and doesn't get any injuries he could then set his site on a massive fight for the fall (September/October) or to close out the year; Mayweather 2 and Alvarez as the big money fights, with Golovkin/Heiland/Johnson as options for later.

Each opponent named has been progressively better and better matched. This is the best one yet in my opinion, you're just mad you really can't hate. Well except for the "he took too long to fight" opinion which is out there lol. He's the 160 pound champion and if he takes Geale it's a good opponent for a voluntary.

Stop being delusional. There will never be a Mayweather - Cotto II. No reason for Floyd to have another rematch against someone he beat easily the first time. If Floyd does have another rematch, it will be against Pacquaio where the real money is.

Cotto will not fight Canelo for a title because he will no longer have it by that time due to either vacating it, being stripped or being stopped by GGG. If he even retains it after his voluntary.

Cotto will milk his voluntary for whatever he can and then vacate and return to 154 if not 147. He'll finish his three fight contract with Roc Nation, if Roc Nation are around long enough, and then retire.

I'm just getting bored with all the useless speculation. Pick someone and sign the damn fight and get it done already. I really don't care. The sooner he gets his voluntary over with, the sooner GGG gets the WBC title. That's all that interests me.
