  • Comments Thread For: Deontay Wilder: Klitschko Might End Jennings' Career

BoxingScene.com recently caught up with WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder. The Alabama native is planning a summer return to the ring and is interested in facing one of the bigger names in the division.

On April 25th WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko faces Bryant Jennings in New York.

When asked if he believes Jennings had a shot against the champion, Wilder had this to say about his fellow American:

Wilder has hit it right on the head. Jennings works hard at the game and has become a handy boxer but there's a culture shock waiting for him. I think most of us know that. It would be a huge shock to me if Jennings is able to trouble Wlad at all.

Ya I think he's gone by round two. Jennings fights composed and isn't aggressive enough, that's not the type of guy to beat wlad. David haye was the guy, but he got too scared to try. I can't see anyone else.

No, Klitschko is very smart and calculating, yes it is true that Jennings is green and this is a big step up, I think the Klitschko Camp see's Jennings as potentially the biggest threat and would like to take him out before he gets good enough, and the experience to really be a problem for Klitschko .

Wilder imo is just an act, playing a part, a character in a fictional story. The Truth is Klitschko KO's Wilder no problem. Honestly Jennings has a real good shot of winning, Klitschko is a plodder, he doesn't move a whole lot and his tactics are basic, his size , length and power are his strentghs, oh and of course his experience.

But I really feel Jennings has the type of athleticism and balance to off set some of what Klitschko is really good at, like HOLDING. As the fight wears on klitschko stamina will become an issue, he may be taller than Jennings but shoulder to shoulder width wise Jennings is just as big and thick.

Again people forget Klitschko is not some "spring chicken", and he's not the most dynamic athlete as far as movement. Further more Klitschko has not faced an athlete like Jennings before either, a smart thinking fighter. If the big stage isn't to much for Jennings and he can stay calm, then I think we have an interesting fight on our hands.

Good honest interview. Jennings is in way, way over his head. The fights a total mismatch.
I certainly can't get excited about it.

Alright, come on. Wlad ends no one that quick. Unless Jennings has a Seth Mitchell level chin and it somehow has gone unexposed, he'll last 6 at least. Even Alex ****ing Leapai lasted 5.

Klitschko destroys Jennings and Wilder on the same night.

Yeah but although Jennings is better than Leapai, Alex had a much harder jaw.

If Jennings survives longer than a couple, I reckon it'd be because Wlad carried him a bit, trying to give fans their moneys worth.

Underrating Vlad's skills big time IMO. Don't see where you get that...

I guess I bought in slightly to Haye's talk and thought he might have a chance to do something with Klitschko, but I could see clearly in the first round Vlad's upper body movement and skills having Haye thinking Oh Sh**...

He's not a heavy handed plodder looking for the KO, he's always trying to outbox his opponents.

IMO the only guy that troubles Wlad at this point is Fury.
