Canelo is 5' 8", shorter reach, 154lb titlist(at the time), and a fight that was demanded by the public, with Mayweather-DLH esque hype to it(and eventually similar PPV numbers). Mayweather has fought at 154 twice by the time. GBP/Schaefer/Haymon easy to make the fight.

GGG is 5' 10", good reach, MW champ, more powerful than Canelo, Floyd never fought a MW,never fought above 150lbs. The public is not asking for Mayweather vs GGG because they don't even know who he is.

Even anti-Mayweather fans are just faintly asking for it just now as a response of disbelief that Mayweather-Pacquiao is happening. They want to plant that seed in now for when Floyd beats Pacquiao, the saga continues of who Floyd is ducking or who he is afraid of. Might as well start now, the fight is a month away and anti-Floyd fans need that new "face" for Mayweather the "heel".
