At best for Charlo was a draw. I didn't see him win more than 5 rounds at all. Vanes was the one punching and coming forward and landing the harder shots. Charlo did a lot of moving and awkward bending. I thought Vanes won at the very least 6-4. I just couldn't see Charlo winning more than 5 rounds at all. And Vanes swept everything from the cut onward.

It was a very close and competitive fight that could've gone either way. I had Charlo as the winner 96-94. I have no problem with Vanes thinking he won. He's a fighter after all and every fighter feels they did enough to win in close fights.

Vanes needs to realize in order for him to make a name for himself at the Next Level, you have to be willing able to take a risk and be successful to gain the reward.
Its funny Vanes looks better in sparring than he does in an actual fight, I keep wanting that Vanes to show up but I guess he hasn't become desperate enough yet. Vanes keeps wanting to do just enough instead of making sure its clear you won every round, you cant worry about how you might look at times, just MAKE SURE you won, and worry about looking better in the next bout.
You cant expect to eek out close decisions when its clear you could have done more but you didn't, why? the guy has 11 KO's lol what is the problem Vanes?
Its all mental, and I don't like the Trainer he choose, Joe Goosen, not the right guy for the job.
Imo Joe Goosen is more of a motivator type of trainer vs the kind of Trainer who can DEVELOP a fighter and take there skill set to the Next Level. Joe Goosen is the male version of Ann Wolfe, more of a trainer by Celebrity than actual Trade.
Vanes needs to start there, sure Goosen can make you feel comfortable and treat you like a Superstar in his Hollywood Gym, but that atmosphere rarely creates the type of fighters who are hungry, starving and mean.
:ANYWORD:
I remember when he worked with Shane Mosley, bad pairing, I see similar results for Chavez Jr with Joe.Last edited by ManAnimalX; 03-29-2015, 12:44 PM.

Vanes should have got the nod. He pressed, he landed the more telling blows, he should have stayed to the body, I thought he won. Charlo getting the nod was not a robbery, Vanes should have stuck with Goosen - that was a goosen type of fight, vanes is a goosen type of fighter

Some huge double standards in this thread, people saying Vanes should have pressed more when he was the aggressor and Charlo was moving a lot more. I though Vanes won, but I have no problem with Charlo winning, except for that one bull**** card(what was it 97-93?).
