so he wasn't gonna fight in may to compete with floyd... who traditionally fights every may... good got that out of the way

So why was canelo in a rush to get the fight signed for may with cotto if cotto wasn't gonna compete with floyd for that cinco de mayo weekend date?

hile declining to get into the specifics, Penagaricano said it came down to the split of the money.

"It's always the financial side. There was no agreement on that," he said. "I don't know what would have happened if we had more time. If Oscar doesn't have more time, he doesn't have more time. It's a great fight, but Miguel doesn't need it for his career. So if it doesn't happen, so be it. He's OK. No problem. If Oscar needs to move he needs to move. We're not going to go back to them. We'll huddle and meet Miguel on Tuesday, and we will start planning."

          Cotto didn't want it.

"Gaby Penagaricano on Cotto being the A-side and deserving the lion's share of the purses:

Obviously, and Canelo and Oscar's side, they recognize that but that's not the problem. But the question is, How much of the lion's share? that one guy should get and what the other should get. So that's it.

On the venue, given Cotto almost traditionally fights in New York in June:

"I would say that there is no leading candidate. I think that Las Vegas, Texas and New York ; the three of them are the leading candidates. I would not discard any of them as far as being one of the possible venues yet."
So you're admitting that the only way Canelo would fight in New York is if he HAD to, you literally just said that. That's called a scared diva. Cotto would fight anywhere just for some more money, Canelo would only do it if Floyd made him his daddy once again.

That's disappointing. Mayweather-Cotto 2 is the better fight.

LMAO so why won't Cotto fight in Las Vegas? You guys are sad, you act like Las Vegas is canelo's home town or something. I didn't admit ****. The venue wasn't a problem, I quoted Cotto's adviser who confirmed they would have fought anywhere. God you're delusional.

May may very well win. But to say fighting brook will do better than canelo v cotto is far fetched. Latino America will be on fire that night. brook only has a following in England. its an island with only so many people. latino America is vast.

He's fought in Vegas 4 times, Canelo can't even go out of Mexico, Vegas or Texas just once. Even for the biggest payday of his career to become lineal MW champion...

Canelo and his fans when they hear Cotto in NY...

Close enough to California doe. Vegas IS practically Mexico.
