Lucas Matthysse's head trainer believes that boxing skill and not power will be the difference when his man faces Ruslan Provodnikov on April 18 in Verona, New York.

Luis 'Cuty' Barrera, who has been the Argentine's trainer for his entire professional career, told BoxingScene that he is confident in Matthysse's ability to win the fight either via decision or knockout, but hopes their Russian rival will start on the attack.

i would have to agree. both being heavy handed punchers, matthysse seems to have the better footwork of the two. ruslan is very predictable plotter. follows his opponent, plants and throw power punches.he will have to take on early onslaught if he able to weather that, he might be able to cut the ring off and pressure matthysse all night and test matthysse stamina. i got matthysse timing ruslan good shots throughout the fight. ruslan's face will break up by the 3 or 4 round. definitely worth watching.

If Ruslan gets inside and lands his bombs. It's bye bye baby for Mathysse. He gets stopped for the first time. I'm confident of that pick. If Lucas can keep his calculated distance and land his hard shots at a controlled boxing pace, he boxes Ruslan ears off, with ease and hurts him. If they go toe to toe though, Mathysse is getting sc****d. Book it! My predictions have been A- solid this year. Almost perfect.
