Add up all of the rooms available, and the ones at the MGM Grand, and your talking about 50,000 rooms where a person can buy the fight from the comfort of their own space. You add the bars across the properties showing the fight, in addition to the closed circuit options that will be available across the properties, I'm pretty sure that there are more than enough ways to be a part of the event without having to be at Caesar's Palace.
so you considered yourself being a part of the event just because you are in vegas?

    • I'm just going to do what I always do. Say home, Buy the fight on PPV, Invite some friends over, have plenty of beer and food for everyone and just watch the action.

I LOL at those who say they aren't attending the fight but will be in vegas for the festivities. Look, unless you're a baller, you're not getting into any parties worth a damn. It will be a zoo that wknd! Prices for everything will be tripled. You wont be able to hail a taxi. You wont be able to get any seats at any pool parties. Etc..

Now if your idea of "enjoying the festivities" consists of walking up and down a crowded strip, then have fun!
... yet you'd rather have the fight in Arlington, TX? Even if you were willing to commit the time/money to commute the 40 minutes to Dallas, what is there actually there to do, for the regular fan to make a weekend out of the fight?

The MGM Grand will likely have 16,000 people in the actual venue, another 30k-40k attending the closed circuits across their properties, and countless people enjoying the fights from their bars/restaurants on Saturday night. From Wednesday until the fight, the 100k folks that will likely descend onto Vegas will have "The City that Never Sleeps" as their playground.

In case you didn't know, there are over 40 hotels/casinos on the Strip, all within a 5-mile stretch of each other. ********, entertainment shows for all ages, buffets, and almost anything you can think of, with the attention focusing in on mainly the MGM properties, by around the arrivals/weigh-ins.

I know underselling Vegas helps your point, but you've got to be kidding.

Quick correction, the 1,000 face value tickets are the only one's being sold through Ticketmaster, mainlining them to the public. The other 15,000 tickets will still start at face value; they'll just be controlled by MGM Grand/Mayweather Promotions/Top Rank.

MGM Grand will likely use their tickets to entice their high rollers, in addition to offer them as perks to the en****** that they do business with, and Mayweather/Top Rank will likely offer tickets to the folks that they want to offer tickets to, before then unloading whatever other tickets the have left to their re-sellers of choice.

Without any personal or tangential relationship to MGM Grand/Mayweather Promotions/Top Rank, the only chance at a face value ticket is through Ticketmaster; not saying it's fair, just that it is.

Like I stated earlier: Aside from being part of the event, you will be looking at a big screen throughout ..... IMO, I'd rather be among friends watching the fight in HD, with some brews and grub on standby.

Would you have honestly paid $500 for nosebleed seats at Texas Stadium? Because that's the debate here.

The super-premium seats for Mayweather-Pacquiao have been marked up to a face value of $10,000. They are expecting to bring in over $70m at the gate for this fight.

Pacquiao-Clottey did $6.5m on a touch over 36k tickets sold; even if you put 100k people into the stadium, we're talking about tripling the price of what was charged for Pacquiao-Clottey. If some megalomaniac was ready to pay $100m to host the fight, sure, take it to some exotic stadium somewhere.

Since that didn't happen, they did the sensible thing; find the venue where you could maximize the revenue for the fight.

              • This is a horrible idea. Do you know how many people will fly to vegas just to go to the casinos/bar and watch the fight. Not to mention the amount of fist fights that will happen if everyone is at MGM and its crowded as hell

People were laughing at the temporary stadium idea because, imo rightfully, the temporary stadium was brought up as a counterweight to the MGM Grand, a pretty stellar fight venue, and the thought of a temporary anything holding a candle to the MGM Grand, was silly.

You add in the details apparently put forward by Arum (porta-poties, high school stadium bleacher seats, no amenities, while being a ridiculous distance away from the entertainment on the strip), and you can't do much else but laugh at the idea.

                  • Got my dad and brother coming over to the house splitting the bill with me. Also inviting maybe 4 or 5 people over to catch it and having them pitch in $10 each for the fight, a homebrew (8.5% Double IPA), and some wings. Why go to Vegas to watch a fight that you can't get a ticket to? I can gamble in Maryland or West VA, which is all I'd be able to do in Vegas that weekend anyways.

                    • It's going to be a crazy weekend period.

The positives are...been to Vegas many times but first for a big fight let alone the BIGGEST fight, will be cool to see all the celebs and members of the boxing community around all the casinos, tons of great parties because everyone is pulling out all the stops and having the best DJs at their clubs.

Negatives: I love crowds but i'm sure this will be extreme. Anybody remember how bad NBA All-Star weekend was?? The Hoods finest i'm sure will be in attendance to show out on the Strip. My girlfriend tends to attract a lot of attention and i'm sure ignorant idiots will be acting a fool. Lucky me.
Plus getting around is going to suck as i'm sure transportation will be completely ****ed...and throw in having to cater to a woman wearing high heels and that's going to make it extra headache.

All in all I can't wait. So excited. But I am for sure cautious about the weekend as well.
