Comments Thread For: Matthysse on Provodnikov, Says Danny Garcia Will Win

The sound of a noisy gym and background talk in rapid fire Argentine-accented Spanish greeted me when I spoke to Lucas Matthysse following an intense training session for the hard-punching Patagonian. His clash against the equally tough Russian, Ruslan Provodnikov on April 18 is one of the most anticipated match-ups in years, not least due to the style of both men who rarely engage in anything less than entertaining fights.

Lucas doesn't seem to have the best grasp of how the whole belt system works.

lol true, but who does? it's an absolute shambles at 140 with Peterson retaining the belt no matter what, Algieri getting stripped for nothing, Dulorme getting a vacant title shot, Garcia defending at 142 & 143.

I wonder what options Matthysse will actually have now if he beats Ruslan. Golden Boy doesn't have anyone at his weight class, and will Arum actually risk his fighters against Lucas?

            That's not really his fault.

Mauricio Herrera? If that doesn't happen and he beats Ruslan I hope he gets the Pacquiao fight. Matthysse-Crawford would be good match-up too but can't see that happening.

After this fight, he'll have to wait for the winner of Crawford/Dulorme to face Algieri then he'll be in line for the winner. However if Garcia vactes the WBc, Postol and Lucas are ranked #1 and #2 so hopefully that fight happens.

i was just about to start a thread talking about how no one is talking about this fight. I think it is 2 over hyped fighters without question but regardless it is 2 very entertaining fighters and at the end of the day thats what matters in these types of fights. I for one cant wait for this fight

No **** Danny will win. Because it's another carefully disguised mismatch by yours truly, Alford Haymon.
