Manny has a pretty good chance of winning. He will need to focus on cutting off the ring, hitting while Floyd is dancing along the ropes and needs the ability to walk through Mayweathers punches. Mayweather can and will adapt, in which case Manny will need to fight on the inside while being careful not to get over anxious and avoid flailing away at Floyd with meaningless punches.

Floyd will have to just be Floyd and work on his power to give Manny something to think about when he is coming forward. Without working on his power, he could be in a lot of trouble.

Remember one thing, effective counter punching slows down a volume puncher, and forces him to think about the return fire. Manny will need to settle into a "boxing" match. I hope Freddie's game plan has a plan A and B. Now, if Manny is doing damage, then we have another scenario to start thinking about, but Floyd is committed to defense, and has he says, he finds out what the fighter cannot do, and force him to adapt or focus on his weakess.
I don't think Pac will be forced to think about the return fire, you gonna have to knock him out before he stops punching.

Very true. It seems like people do forget that effective counter punching, by design, puts the kabosh on volume punching. Really this is the first test isn't it? who will play there game? Will Floyd make Manny tentative? or will Manny do what Madianna managed....to impose himself on Floyd periodically? I always like to refer to case studies when possible. Roy Jones, for years would back people up with his feints, and with his jumping hook. After Tarver, a good fighter, got so emotionally invested in beating Jones, and did not take the feints, it set up some exchanges that would not normally occur in a Jones fight (not even mentioning the KO)....Subsequently when Glenn johnson, a smart, workmanlike, slow and methodical fighter fought Roy he was not put off by Roy's razzle and dazzle and was able to cut off the ring and get to Jones with a victory.

Can Manny expose Floyd in this fashion? I do think that Madianna exposed the fact that Mayweather does not have the legs to keep a very aggressive fighter, who has the strength, off of him any longer. That is prolly why Floyd is working on getting stronger for this fight. Does Manny have the strength and power to overcome this? I know if I were Manny that is what I would be trying to do.

The theory behind this, and the way Roach seems to approach this strategy is that the best defense is a persistant offense. Accordingly Manny does not want Floyd to set his feet, make the fight occur primarily in the center of the ring, or have a chance to counter something from a distance where he can set a trap....for example, the Hatton check hook.

If Pacquio maintains his head movement and uses greater foot speed to close the gaps Floyd could have some problems. If floyd can anticipate the linear movements of Pac and set up for it, circle away, counter punch and reset, then Pacqio is in for a long night. Pacquio has to really use his speed and aggression and punch through the traps....

In the military it is taught that the best way to beat an ambush is to fight right through it...not to stop an any point....Manny should take heed. If he never lets Floyd get set, even if Floyd catche him occasionally he will be using his advantages to great effect.

Not sure about this. We see how Manny responds when he's hit or hurt. Touches his gloves, and look to respond with fire. I don't see anything changing in this fight.

If you analysis the fight, you see patterns and flaws. I just see Manny in a boxing match instead of a fight. He doesn't handle smart fighters, and with the exception of Hatton, his power is questionable. I think he has power, but his power is a result of volume. Freddie has to come up with a plan that will help Manny stay in attack mode. Feinting, in and out movement and setting traps to get off combinations. I think floyd stuns him often and early, and slows him down with body punches. Watch floyd control distamce. Leaning forward on his lead foot, Which gives the impression manny can touch him. Go and look at previous fights and how he controls distance, and then watch an aggressive manny lunge due to him committing to his offense. hell, watch Algeria deceive him by thinking he's in punching range.

Will manny touch floyd? Hell yeah. Will he hurt floyd? Maybe. At the end, Floyd will walk him down after dragging him into deep waters.

I agree with the below statement :

Cotto doesn't want Manny to win that's for sure, he wants a rematch with Floyd so bad he's willing to sit on the bench for over a year with that MW title to get it. The problem is I'm not sure Cotto is getting the Floyd rematch should he win 100% so I'm cheering for Manny but picking Floyd. If I knew Cotto would get a rematch with Floyd for sure I would root for Floyd because I wan to see Cotto take that 0.

Manny is always open to a counter, FLOYD hasnt face someone who throws shots up the middle in a while. Im a Floyd fan and i dont know what to expect
Best post ive seen in awhile.

This a fight that is nearly impossible to predict. I guess we have to talk about something for the next two months, but this is one of those fights that just has to play out in the ring.
