Why wasn't Canelo able to do what Maidana did in the first Mayweather fight?

Canelo has shown he can come forward and be the aggressor against a mover, as he did with Lara. So I'm not so sure it was a style thing per se. Mayweather backed him up a lot, so he really couldn't play that role and that's something that gets overlooked. Mayweather backed him up quite a bit yet kept him at a distance. Maidana's awkward style allowed him to land punches in the middle of the ring which forced Floyd to move more.

you are right and also a bit wrong

Canelo came right out and let hands go. here you are right

canelo sure came out different vs Angulo. here you are wrong.

because that's how canelo fights in all his bouts except the one against Floyd.

that is the only fight he came out different.

Canelo was paid to carry Floyd. take it easy on him and at the same time make him look good.

If people notice, just blame it on a wrong game plan.

Maidana heard Canelo was paid, he was expecting it too but they did not so Maidana punish Floyd luckily Floyd was saved by the judges.

Rematch maidana gets paid but not as much as canelo and look at what happens. Same Floyd same Maidana 6 months apart but if you compare 1 and 2 it was miles and miles apart.

if people notice, Just say Floyd adjust and adopted.

if people insist, say maidana came with a wrong game plan. but why will he come with a wrong game plan if game plan works the first time, well tell them he gassed out the first time so he phased himself reserved his energy for the latter fight but it backfired.

this is not relevant to the thread because Floyd beats both Canelo and Maidana.

styles makes fight is only applicable in this situation:

          Fighter A vs Fighter B - Fighter A wins

          Fighter A vs Fighter C - Fighter C wins

if Fighter B vs Fighter C - not automaticaly Fighter C wins = because styles makes fight.

And I don't understand why anyone expected differently. Alvarez is a boxer.

He was horrible at it against Lara, though. He looked completely incapable and probably landed 5 good head punches all night. He's not a pressure fighter.

Styles. Maidana is awkward and aggressive while canelo prefers to box.

A guy like Floyd needs Trinidad and Hearns power to deal properly with a guy like Maidana. Maidana reminds me of Tyson. You have to let them feel your power and respect you. Those guys aren't wrapped too tight. Is it a coincidence that Mike and Maidana share the same birth sign?

With this I believe if Pac realizes that Mayweather can punch, the Marquez's KO will replay on his mind, and he will be a lot hesitant in there, allowing Floyd to pick him off.

                      What?

Maidana has a different style than Canelo. Therefore he is gonna have a different kind of fight with Floyd than canelo.

                      it's simple.

lesser fighters have given Floyd problems because of their styles.

Is Hatton better than marquez? No but he was more competitive against floyd than Marquez, due too his style.
