No such thing as a 'small' MW. You are either a MW or you are not.

Is he a MW or is he not? He holds the MW title so I assume he IS a MW.

It's ducking if he does not fight a ranked middleweight. He's supposed to be the lineal champion of the division and he should act like it.

Or he can vacate the title and allow someone who is willing to actually defend it against all comers to hold it.

Don't try and church it up, you know this is a universal belief among cotto fans.

Cotto is one of the best welterweights of HIS era, but he is far from an all-time great...and probably top 15-20 for his entire era but an all time great is reaching.....he is one of the best fighters Puerto rico has every produced though

I don't see Cotto being able to compete with these era's in their prime and his....the 90's weltweights(Whitaker, ODLH, Trinidad, Quartey), 2000s welterweights(Mosley, Forrest, DLH, Mayweather,) , or the best 80's welterweights( Hearns, Curry, Leonard, etc.)

He may have been a contender and a good fighter in every era, but he wouldn't have been great in any era.

are quality wins? no? except for RJJ
None of those were ATG's or near it when Hokins fought them. Not to mention he lost to Calzaghe ( and i'm not saying he lost because I read boxrec, I'm saying it because I'm not a biased american)

So there you have it folks... Hopkins and Cotto aren't ATG's until the criteria is changed.....

Every fighter you mentioned has hard times against weaker fighters than Cotto.... people make older/retired fighters into God like figures....

If he fights and beat ggg, then his stock greatly improves, but as of right now, cotto is nowhere near ATG

I like Cotto, he exceeded all my expectations for him after the 2000 Olympics

Cotto is a very good fighter, Maybe a future hall of famer, he had good skills, and fought everyone. An all-time great, he is not.

I think this is pretty much how Cotto should be seen.
