Ray Mancini on Canelo: "Canelo is nothing special...Lara won."

Agree with Mancini.
Watched the fight multiple times still have it on the dvr. I don't even think it was really all that close honestly. Nelo won some middle rounds when he hurt Lara But I can't see him winning 7 rounds.
Nelo landed 1 shot of substance to Laras face he resorted to body shots in which a majority were hitting Laras arms or air . It's the only fight I can remember in which the winner won a fight in this manner.
Lara should have moved less and engaged more since Canelo is the name and brings in the money, the decks was stacked against him from the start When a defensive boxer faces a popular puncher it's just the way it goes.
Rigo dominated Donaire and the refs gave him 6, 7 and 8 rounds. Whitaker got a draw against Chavez and you can go on and on its just the way boxing is.Comment

Pretty sure some of these Canelo stans didn't even watch the video. Ray gave a fair assesment of the fight.
I predicted it spot on. I said Lara would do enough to win a decision but the judges would give the fight to Canelo.Comment

Mancini was retired by the time he was 24, so it's a pretty moot comparison. Though given he'd already attained wins over the likes of Ramirez, Frias, Espana, Chacon & arguably Bramble by that time, the claim Canelo is "much better" is highly dubious to say the least.
As is the notion that he must be "terrible judge of fights", as many people also scored the fight for Lara and even those that scored it for Canelo generally had it very close.Comment

He may be right that Canelo may be nothing special along the lines of a Mayweather or Pacquiao but the kid is a good fighter and more importantly he will fight anyone and that goes a long way with the fans.Comment
