Comments Thread For: Wladimir Klitschko Spars With Parker, Salamov, Ugonoh

A set of Wladimir Klitschko’s sparring partners have been revealed by several Ukrainian sources. The dominant heavyweight champion (63-3, 53 KOs), who holds the WBA Super, WBO, IBF and IBO championships, fights undefeated American challenger Bryant Jennings (19-0, 10 KOs) on April 25 in New York City, New York.

According to those, Klitschko, who turns 39 exactly one month before the fight, will take part in sparring sessions with New Zealand heavyweight prospect Joseph Parker (13-0, 11 KOs), Poland-based Nigerian Izuagbe Ugonoh (11-0, 9 KOs), undefeated Russian light heavyweight Umar Salamov (12-0, 10 KOs) and once-defeated Georgian Yago Kiladze (22-1, 15 KOs). Salamov joins the squad on March 29.

Wladimir is almost 40 he should retire but if he wins and beats wilder and fury think of what that will say about his legacy.

Those fights will make or break his legacy. He's got such a weak list of opponents over the last several years. You take Pulev, Haye out of the mix and Tony Thompson is the stand out. In a heavyweight reign of 18 fights, you struggle to get on to your second hand when looking for quality opponents or guys that were thought of as a threat.

If he fights Jennings then opts for his mandatory (apparently Glazkov) then retires, his reign will be looked upon with disdain by boxing historians and fans alike.

haye,,,pulev and povetkin were probably his biggest wins but I agree there's no great fighters on his resume. fury and wilder aren't great either but theyre good fighters and would boost wlads standing somewhat,,,espescially considering hes well past his prime years at 39. id be very disappointed if wlad went the glazkov route and didn't fight wilder or fury. it would damage his legacy but I think these fights will happen before he hangs it up

wouldn't hold it against him too much if he were to retire after the Jennings fight considering his age but if he were to fight a soft touch instead of wilder/fury Id be very pissed off. he either needs to retire or fight those 2 before hanging it up. no reason to fight the glazkovs of the world when there's 2 much better fighters willing to get it on

I´m sure Klitschko fights a couple more years. He looked in great shape against Pulev! Can`t wait to see him fight Wilder and Fury!

imo he's already a top 20 atg. beating wilder and fury before he retires will put him even higher.

What a load of balls. Wilder and Fury aren't even close to matching what Byrd, Ibragimov and Povetkin achieved in the sport.

Only in hindsight do certain fighters not look good on his resume while Fury and Wilder supposedly would.

In foresight, a win over Povetkin, or Ibragimov was just as meaningful as wins over Fury or Wilder. Ibragimov was just as much of a Paper title holder as Wilder, and undefeated to boost.

I don't think Wlad is past his prime. I think still has everything intact that is needed, just as he did 4 or 5 years ago.
