No one cares it's a catchweight, it's more about the ridiculous nature of the sanctioning body allowing him to hold on to the 140 belt for so long without defending it.
Then it's the sanctioning bodies fault.

The problem is not the catch weight, the problem that many see is that both are title holders(Peterson IBF & García WBA, WBC) in the same weight class(140lbs) & instead of unifying the titles they are both fighting at a higher weight class where their titles aren't at stake.& no matter who wins, the looser will still be considered a world champion.(if Peterson looses this will be the 2nd time he's lost a fight & is still a champion)

Then fights a catchweight gets blown out but since it was a catchweight he still keeps the belt he never really earned in the first place. Now he's fighting another catchweight and if he loses he will still be world champ? Meanwhile the other guy (Garcia) got his butt whooped against Herrera and told the world he wouldn't give him a rematch because he was moving to 147. Over a year later and he hasn't defended his belts or made weight. But isn't fighting at 147 and is basically having Haymon pay guys off to delay having to defend his belts. Must be nice to have Haymon in your back pocket to pay guys off because you can lose fights, not defend your title, get busted with PED's and still remain "world champ".
preach it man. so true Pederson is the bigger joke. Dude got beat by Khan yet they screwed Khan, gets killed by Matthysse and is still a champion . Please.

All this **** over this wack fight. Lamont Peterson is washed up, damaged goods, I have no doubt that Garcia is going to finish his career off. Matthysse bombed him out in a round, this guy is tailor made for garcia. Left hook ,3rd or 4th round. That being said theres entirely to much **** around Garcias title reign, the L to Herrera in puerto rico, the catchweights, rod salka, hes not really a champ anyone can get behind beside the obvious, or is it oblivious fanbase.

I feel it's more on Danny's than Peterson. Peterson doesn't have any weight issues that I know of at 140. Danny's last 2 fights will be over 140, and those are voluntary fights, no defenses. Just strip him already.....

But he's not fighting at 140 though, so does it really matter?

Yep, this fight's a joke. It should have happened last year, but instead Haymon brought in a lamb for slaughter. While it may be a good fight, it has absolutely no relevance what so ever. The manner in which the titles have been retained is ridiculous. I can't believe Cotto gets so much flack for his title, when these two jokers and their manager have been making a mockery of multiple titles for almost 2 years! What in the ever living ****?!?!
