The 5 million dollar penalty was just a publicity move to reassure people that Manny is clean.

Ellerbe or whoever saw it as an opportunity for more mud slinging and took advantage of it.

Pretty much. But it amazing when one of these statements get released, some go straight into overdrive with nonsensical rantings of: "See! I told you *insert name* was dirty! Team trying to cover it up! Blah, blah, blah!". I just try to apply a little common sense rather than insult people I don't know.

Did Ellerbe release this to the press? I have no idea. There's some Ellerbe quotes throughout this thread in bold letters that are obviously making reference to drug cheating without straight up saying it. For all I know, these quotes were made up by overzealous fans and I fell for it.

How can you trust this Ellerbe/Mayweather camp if they do not believe in cleaning the sport. They have been accusing Manny Pacquiao using drug for so many years. Today Manny Pacquiao is requesting a 5 million dollar fine for the two fighters if caught positive with illegal drug. Ellerbe is so concerned about Manny Pacquiao's request ...what is Ellerbe worried about if they are not planning anything dirty.
