Comments Thread For: Garcia, Peterson: No Regrets on Timing or Catchweight

For as long as Danny Garcia and Lamont Peterson have held separate titles at junior welterweight, fans have clamored for a head-on collision.

Now that the public gets the matchup it so craved, attention has instead moved to the circumstances surrounding the fight. The April 11 headliner at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York—which will air live on NBC in prime time—will not be a unification bout of any kind, but instead a non-title fight at a maximum catchweight of 143 lbs.

I don't know why this article says that the fans wanted this fight. Peterson already got destroyed by Mathysse and Garcia decisively beat Mathysse. Peterson is just another challenger for Garcia I don't even look at him as a champion.

I don't know what they are talking about. I don't know a single fan who's was asking for this fight. Peterson already got blasted by Matthyse. Most fans want Danny to move up and face the top welterweights. Or give Herrera who whooped his butt a rematch. Or fight Matthyse again. Hell even Broner. There are many fights the fans have been asking for instead of this catch weight BS where both guys get to keep their belts

I don't see either guy winning titles at 147 anytime soon. They'll both have a hard time cracking top 5 at welterweight.

Just like Broner... he took a crack at 147 and reality set in.
