What do you think about premier boxing champions so far? Do you think Haymon's league is making or losing money? If that's the case how long do u think it'll carry on?
PBC making or losing money?

Hymen doesn't care, it's mostly his investors' money. If PBC loses out, Hymen skirts out and starts promoting MMA fighters. He'll lose some cash but his isn't solely footing the bill. He needs to set up tournaments and have the boxers doing community service and promote it that way. He needs to make boxing stand out as a sport.Comment

Haymon is doing well for himself. But he's using investors money to fund this endeavor.
Right now it's an investment. His group of investors' capital are buying network time which isn't cheap. This is even separate from the fighter's purses. While the networks themselves are also putting money in its production.
Haymon is hoping that the ratings are consistently high so that they can attract more sponsors and advertisement dollars. If PBC gets high ratings, then advertisers would be happy to pay Haymon/PBC. Right now, it's the other way around and they are using investors capital to start this project.
IT's all about ratings. Too early. It takes time. Everyone involved understands this.Comment

At this particular moment he's probably losing money. But he needs time to build it up. It's like a young prize fighter.Comment

Seriously? Between the fight purses, the time buys, audience filling service, heavy advertising, 6-figure step aside money to multiple fighters, new AV staging & tech expenses, tv personnel & other personnel hiring it's currently at a massive loss.
But that's irrelevant. It always costs a ton of money on the front end to start a business. They went into this venture knowing they'd be in the red for the first 2-4 years. That's why Haymon's highly financed for 4 years. Year 5 they expect something near break even. By year 10 if everything works to plan, that's likely when investors expect to see their profit.Comment

this whole PBC circus will prove to be a disaster for all involved.
match-ups are mediocre, viewer numbers are mediocre, the execution is mediocre, etc.Comment

No real boxing fan actually gives a damn whether the program makes money. All we care about is the fact that we are able to watch more quality fights on television. The only ones who care about that are the Floyd Mayweather haters (and by proxy, Al Haymon) who want something to criticize and attack Mayweather (and by proxy, Al Haymon).
Anyone who says they don't like the programming offered by PBC and would prefer things go back to the way they were when we saw five or six quality fighters per year on HBO and Showtime is either lying or doesn't know s...t about boxing.Comment

From a marketing standpoint its a win win.Pac and Floyd- huge ratings and ppv cash machines will be exiting the sport soon, boxing needs to build up future stars.Ie, Broner ,Thurman and the like need tv saturation so casuals can be esposed to kos for life, etc.
Years down the road, these guys could possibly headline ppv cards.Comment
