I don't like the WBC but they've just made Kovalev mandatory to unify the division. What on earth could be wrong with it?

It doesn't matter what belt organizations do when it comes to Haymon fighters

I'm convinced that all Haymon fighters will give up their belts and fight for PBC belts soon

WBC is just trying to get a check from Kovalev

Right, but it guarantees by the end of the year Kovalev will fight for the WBC title, chance at unifying the division, Stevenson or no Stevenson.

In this case, this is a good thing and a step in the right direction to make Stevenson-Kovalev happen. The problem is the WBC's lack of consistency for obvious reasons. The WBC is not looking out for boxing's best interest, as I'm sure most hardcore fans know. They put their ridiculous diamond belt at stake to get sanctioning fees and make a big money fight - Stevenson-Kovalev - happen.

They should strip Floyd for holding the WBC jr. middleweight title hostage. They should strip Danny too for fighting above 140, while Postol - his mandatory challenger - is waiting to get his shot. They should try to make Rigondeaux the mandatory challenger of Santa Cruz, etc.

When it makes business sense, the WBC create interim titles, encourage unification fights, enforce mandatories etc. Sometimes, it gives boxing fans fights they want to see, such as Stevenson-Kovalev. But when it doesn't make business sense, the WBC is more often than not a disservice to the sport of boxing.

The WBA and his "interim - regular - super" title nonsense is terrible and Arum has the WBO in his back pocket. The IBF is the only respectable sanctioning body in my opinion.

i get the part about unnecessary belts but this is ridic...kovalev is the best 175 lb fighters and adonis is his only real threat.

please make that fight instead of bickering about belts.
It's us the fans I always see on here bickering about there being to many belts. Now that it fits our agenda it's OK? I guess we're no better then they are.

May be they should've added the suffix "of the decade" next to Diamond Champion.

Who doesn't make mistakes? I never said the IBF was perfect.
