Yes, lots of trainers pick up the craft because they 1. cant find a decent cutman or 2. dont want to pay one...so alot of trainer would go to guys that do cuts and befriend them and gain tricks of the trade. But on the other hand, there are others who specialize just in cuts or mostly cuts, such as myself, I have been trained strictly on cutman work. Most cutmen were either boxers or trainers at one time. Al Gavin was a boxer, then a trainer, then a cutman and he was invaluable in many a fighters corners. Dave Tenny is another guy who was a boxer in the Navy, then became a trainer, then was mentored by Al Gavin. Don Thibodeaux was way more well known here in Detroit for his training, but became an outstanding cutman and kinda went that direction more. You may remember the long bearded man in Hearn's corner many a fight. I could go on and on....

K-Dogg thanks and I am inspired by your "When you are inspired.....I once saw a documentary on Al Gavin....from that day forward I was and still am absolutely positive I was meant to be a cutman. Just wish I had understood my calling sooner...better late than never.

You are most welcome...and knowing and realizing one's calling in life is the most important step to living and true happiness. I'm still on my own path to my own personal destination; but I'm getting there.

Congratulations to you for finding yours.
